NOAH Events: July 25-31

Here's what's happening:
 Volleyball Rosters Set

NOAH Volleyball begins competition in just 12 days (Aug 5th), vs Wright Christian. The schedule includes some "heavy hitters" and old rivalries. LAter in August, NOAH plans to host an invitational Saturday Tourney.

The varsity roster combines a solid group of returning leaders, with some very promising new additions.

2011 Varsity Squad
#16 Alex Bensch
#7   Amy Schatzmann
#25  Caitlin Stacy
#24  Cynthia Bensch
#22  Danika Burton
#13  RaeLee Hightower
#8   Shanna Murphy
#11  Sofia Redden

The JV roster is deep with a mature core of returning athletes plus some experienced members of last year's Junior High squad.
The program had a big turn out at lthis month's tryouts, and had to turn away several eager candidates  this year because of facility and staff resources "maxing out". NOAH Volleyball regrets not being able to accommodate every young athlete. The program has become a very exciting sporting opportunity to homeschool families.
See the volleyball blog for more details and to follow the team throughout the coming season.

NOAH Football Program  Guide is receiving Advertising sponsors.
We need your help to complete our football program. The NOAH Jaguar football teams represent the homeschool community for all of Northeastern Oklahoma. There are an estimated 33,000 homeschooled students in Oklahoma with over half of those in Northeastern Oklahoma. That is an equivalent school district to Broken Arrow, the largest in the state.
We hope you will want to show your support by advertising in the football program that will be available to fans during home Varsity and Junior High games.
The proceeds from program sales assist the team with travel, meals, camps, quality equipment, and other needs that arise throughout the season.
If you would like to be included in the 2011 football program, please use the enclosed form to make sure we have all the pertinent information.  Please include your artwork and/or logos that you would like in your ad. Ad prices are included on the form. (If you would like assistance with your ad artwork, our game program coordinators, Wayne & Tammy Dudley may be able to help you for a small fee)
We are excited to extend you the opportunity to be a CORPORATE SPONSOR!
This sponsorship level includes:
  • Full-page ad in the program
  • Announcement of your business during all home games
  • Listing on miniature footballs that will be thrown into the stands
  • A listing on the Corporate Sponsor Banner that will be displayed at each home game

Our deadline for placing ads in this year’s program is Friday, August 5th. Please feel free to mail your ad and payment, or call one of the NOAH Support staff and we will be glad to come by and pick it up.

NOAH Events: July 18th - 24th

Here's what's happening:

 NOAH Spirit Squads Are Back
NOAH is organizing a co-ed Black & Blue Crew(BBC) to compliment our Cheer Squad, for the 2011-12 year. All homeschool students are invited to help us organize the fans in the stands. The BBC leaders will be members of NOAH's Spirit program and given special access and admission at all home football & basketball games.
NOAH Spirit Director, Kimberly Winn is passionate about building a fan experience that brings out the finest in our homeschool athletes.
The Jaguar Mascot crew is another essential part of the BBC. Creative people are needed to develop skits, demonstrations and other fun antics to add to the varsity game experience.
BBC leaders also have the opportunity to staff a facepainting booth prior to gametime.
All interested students may sign up at http://noahspirit.blogspot.com/. A meeting will be called in  the days to come.

Football Hosts Booster Breakfast
The Varsity Football Booster breakfast had a big turnout on Saturday morning. Over 200 players, coaches, and fans got together for hotcakes and sausage at Applebee's (Mingo & 71st).
Fans had a great time visiting with players and coaches, learning about the new squad, the Fall schedule, and other team developments.
The event raised $1700 for the team and helps offset travel costs.  The players were able to offset part of their athletic fees by selling tickets and serving meals. Applebee's donated $5 of each $7 ticket to NOAH football.
The next booster event will be announced soon, on the football blog.

7807 E. 76th St.
Tulsa, OK  74133

Please take some time before the tryouts to read the handbook & fill out the normal online forms (medical, releaseparent/player code of conduct) to help keep the process short and simple.  Coach Eddie will email the athletes, notifying them of their results from the tryouts.

Team practices will begin that Monday, July 11th:  Junior High and Junior Varsity will be from 5 - 6:45

ORU Camp:
The Varsity Team has been asked to fill a spot at the ORU Team camp from July 18 -21 for $120 (checks made directly to ORU) Coach Eddie would love to see all 10 Varsity players attend.

Lots of dates to write down and make sure your calendar is ready for the commitment that is NOAH volleyball!!

If athletes are on vacation and will not be able to attend try outs please let the leaders know  ahead of time so that  other arrangements can be made.

Jr. High Team Roster:
For the 11 yr old and below who have been enjoying the summer conditioning and skills practices. Coach Eddie said to plan on attending the try outs just so you know what they are like and it again will only improve your chances of making the team when you are 12 years old (or in 7th grade).  AND if we are short on Junior Highers trying out then we will fill the remaining slots with younger athletes.

NOAH Spirit Adds Black & Blue Crew

Join the Black & Blue Crew today so we can include you in our planning and fan activities. If interested please send an email to spirit@noahjags.org with your info.

Jaguar Baseball 13U Defeats Texas State Champs in World Series Competition

The Jags started pool play last Thursday against Texas 14A State Champion White Settlement, TX Express.  It was a close game 6-4 until the Express broke open the game to win 14-4.  In the second pool play game, the Jags were outdueled 4-2 by the White Settlemen, TX Dodgers. The Jags last pool game was on Friday against Red Oak, Texas, the defending 13U 2010 World Series Champion.

The Jags battled the whole game and with the game tied 8-8 with two outs, Josiah Lynn knocked in Austin Lilly with an RBI double to win the game.  The Jags and Red Oak battled again the next day in double elimination bracket play.  The Jags jumped out early and coasted to an 11-2 win over Red Oak.
The Jags then played the undefeated #1 seed White Settlement, TX Mets.  The Jags scored 5 runs in the first inning and took an 8-3 lead.  The Mets battled back to within 8-6.  The Mets then scored 4 runs to take a 10-8 lead into the last inning.  With 2 outs, Logan Stolz hit an RBI single to score Aaron Field.  Caleb Raper hit an RBI double to score Stolz to tie the game.  Pat Castleberry hit a sharp grounder to second baseman who bobbled and made a low throw to first not in time for the out to allow Raper to score the go ahead run.  Matt Merrill pitched the bottom half of the inning striking out 3 of the 4 batters faced to shut down the Mets.
The euphoria did not sustain the Jaguars through the end of the World Series playoffs. that weekend. But the memories will last for years to come.
