NOAH Football vs Newcastle
This Friday NOAH will feature flag football, during halftime of the Varsity game with Newcastle.
Please invite your family & friends and join us for an exciting night. Last year NOAH defeated the then #7 Newcastle team in overtime.

Fall National Volleyball
& Cross Country
NOAH Volleyball will travel to Springfield next week, to compete in the Homeschool National Tournament. The highly ranked Jaguar squads will be very competitive in the annual finale.
Some NOAH families are making plans to participate in the Homeschool Cross Country tournament(also taking place in Springfield). NOAH does not currently have an active team in distance running, but that may change as families continue to express a desire to make running sports a  part of their student-athletes' homeschooling.

Oklahoma Homeschool Athletic Access Bill Being Considered
CAPITOL BRIEF
Homeschool sports are examined
Tim Tebow utilized a Fla.
law, to play at a public
school while being
homeschooled.
Two families asked lawmakers Tuesday to allow homeschool students to participate in sports. They said taxes paid by homeschool families already support the programs. “If homeschool families sent students to the local school, the students would be allowed to participate in sports programs, so there is no extra cost to granting homeschool students access,” said Rep. Gus Blackwell, R-Laverne, who requested a legislative study on the issue. Members of the Roger Fischer family of Hooker and the Scott Arthaud family of Keys asked the panel to support passing a “Tim Tebow” law, named for the former University of Florida quarterback. As a child, Tebow was homeschooled, but under Florida law he was allowed to participate in sports activities at his local school. Under Blackwell's proposal, homeschool students would be required to register their intent to participate in sports with the local school before the beginning date of the season. Blackwell said he plans to work with the Oklahoma Secondary Schools Activities Association and its member schools to come up with guidelines.

This is an interesting development, especially for very rural homeschoolers in South and West portions of Oklahoma, but it could create unforeseen difficulties for existing homeschool organizations and even more unwanted entanglements for families who choose to comply with public school requirements. We'll be watching this issue as it develops during the 2011 legislative session.
